| Bear Paw Fire |
| On August 30, 2009, lightning swept through Grand Teton National Park, igniting a small wildfire in the Bear Paw area of the park. For approximately 30 days it slowly burned. Then, prior to my arrival, high winds picked up, turning the small flames into a large wildfire, at times sending smoke 30,000 feet in the air during the day. |
